2014 Annual Conference

Exploring New Frontiers in Peacebuilding

AfP CEO Melanie Greenberg leads a panel on Peacebuilding and Diplomacy: Challenges and Opportunities in African Conflicts

The theme of the 2014 conference was Exploring New Frontiers in Peacebuilding. The first day of the conference was co-sponsored by United States Institute of Peace and took place at their headquarters in Washington, DC. Over the course of three days, the conference explored emerging trends in peacebuilding, including cross-border and urban criminal violence, the future of peacekeeping, the technology revolution and its impact on our field, and the effective use of storytelling in peacebuilding.

The conference hosted a range of exciting speakers and panelists who are dealing with some of the most difficult challenges – and exploring some of the most creative new solutions – to peacebuilding today, including Asi Burak, President of Games for Change; Russell Feingold, Special Envoy to the Great Lakes and the Democratic Republic of Congo; and David Loew, Executive Vice President and Executive Creative Director, Leo Burnett. The conference also featured a lunch time discussion with John Marks and Susan Collin Marks, the Founder and Vice President of Search for Common Ground.
