There has been exponential growth in higher education peace studies programs over the past ten years, but still a lack of understanding about the subject more broadly. It’s necessary to prove what conflict resolution and peace studies are and why they are important to study.
The Education and Training Affinity Group is a useful link between the annual Symposium of Graduate Programs in Peace and Conflict Studies and the NGOs that are members of the Alliance for Peacebuilding.
The 5th Annual Academic Symposium for Innovation in Graduate Peace and Conflict Education was hosted by Georgetown University in conjunction with the Alliance for Peacebuilding and the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), on May 11th-12th, 2015.
This day and a half symposium brought together faculty, staff and administrators of graduate programs in peace studies and conflict resolution to discuss the challenges and opportunities that programs face in responding to an evolving field and a rapidly changing world, with the goal of assisting them in successfully educating the next generation of professionals.
