AfP Named #1 Global Peacebuilding Influencer and Change Agent

Washington, D.C., USA. – Today FAS Research and Porticus Foundation released a landmark report, Mapping Change Agents and Influencers in the Field of Peacebuilding, naming the Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) as the “number one influencer and change agent” among peacebuilding institutions worldwide. The study was based on 140+ interviews with global peacebuilding leaders and a high-level meeting convened by Porticus. Their cutting-edge findings offer a network map of 565 individuals and 432 institutions from 71 countries worldwide and powerful insights into the greatest challenges to and opportunities for reversing the ongoing global erosion of peace. Other top-ranking peacebuilding influencers and change agents named in the report include several AfP members: Peace Direct, Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict, Conciliation Resources, Saferworld, Interpeace, Search for Common Ground, University of Notre Dame Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, Conducive Space for Peace, Alliance for Middle East Peace, Toda Peace Institute, International Alert, Collaborative Development Network (CDA), Build Up, Quaker United Nations Office, and +Peace, the campaign arm of AfP.
The Mapping Change Agents and Influencers in the Field of Peacebuilding report confirms AfP is at the center of a “strong peer community of like-minded NGOs and initiatives,” where “strong connectivity and cohesion at the center could serve as an ideal platform for addressing weaker spots and integrating the periphery.” The fact that 19 of the 35 top-ranking influencers and change makers in this study are AfP or +Peace members affirms the dynamism, unity, and reach of peacebuilders in ending violent conflict and sustaining peace globally. The report also identifies six “make or break” leverage points for improving peacebuilding on the systemic level, all of which are being addressed in AfP’s three-pronged strategy of elevating peacebuilding Policy and Advocacy, Learning and Evaluation, and Partnerships and Public Engagement.
