Publisher: Alliance for Peacebuilding & Partners Global
Publication date: September 2020
Abstract:
A follow-up report was recently released by the Frameworks Institute, as a part of our Narratives For Peace initiative, together with member PartnersGlobal, Understanding the Conversation About Peacebuilding: An Analysis of Organizational Communications. Read the attached report for an overview of how the field is currently “framing” peacebuilding in the US and some initial recommendations to improve how we communicate about peace more effectively.
Recommendation #1: Explain what peacebuilding involves in clear and accessible terms;
Recommendation #2: Always make the case for peacebuilding, not just against military action; and
Recommendation #3: Tell a consistent story about why peacebuilding matters.
Additional research is currently in the works to test specific messaging frames for peacebuilding that we look forward to releasing in 2021. If you would like to reflect together more about this initiative directly with the research team, sign up for the AfP conference and attend the session on Narratives for Peace!
