Digital Peacebuilding CoP: Using Digital Tools to Improve Child Protection

On Friday, September 23rd at 11am ET, join AfP’s Digital Peacebuilding Community of Practice for a presentation and discussion with John Zoltner, who describes himself as “obsessed with finding new ways to apply technology and innovation to protect children, respond to emergencies, and make the world a better place.” Currently Save the Children's Global Lead, Protection from Digital Harm, John will share his experiences in using digital tools to improve child protection, in areas such as trafficking and sexual abuse. Our discussion will look at where lessons can be applicable to peacebuilding, as well as the numerous dilemmas we face. 


John Zoltner’s Bio:

John is a globally recognized leader in applying information and communication technologies (ICTs) to accelerate development, respond to humanitarian emergencies and protect vulnerable populations, online and off. John's focus is on using technology to improve opportunities for the most resource-poor communities in the world, while protecting children from the dangers technology can present for them. As the Senior Advisor for Technology for Development and Innovation, John leads the Save the Children US T4D practice area as well as the T4D Strategy Steering Group for the Save the Children Alliance, a global federation of 25,000+ staff in more than 100 countries. John speaks frequently on the topics of online child protection, digital child safeguarding and Artificial Intelligence for mission-based organizations (AI4Good) and is a constant advocate for organizing the ICT4D community to take collective action to reduce internet violence against children.
