AfP’s August 2022 Champion of Change: Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security, And Conflict Transformation (WCAPS)

AfP is excited to announce that Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security, and Conflict Transformation (WCAPS) has been selected for AfP's first Champions of Change Award! The Champions of Change Award highlights AfP member organizations serving as catalysts for change to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the peacebuilding field.

WCAPS has numerous innovative programs and initiatives that elevate DEI for the broader community, which include Organizations in Solidarity, Race Across the Pond, the Art and Policy Forum, and WCAPSisOut. The WCAPS Mentorship Program, Pipeline Fellowship Program, working groups, and podcast continue to shepherd in a new generation of diverse leaders and surface critical challenges and opportunities to ensure a more inclusive and transformative field. Meet the incredible WCAPS team here!

WCAPS's Organizations in Solidarity (OiS) initiative, in particular, is mobilizing across the field to create structural change and dismantle systems of racism and discrimination. OiS is a partnership between over 300 organizations and individuals that have pledged to implement and follow OiS's 12 commitments, which strive to combat racism, promote diversity and respect, and cultivate support for Black people and all people of color within the peace and security fields. OiS convenes several working groups, hosts events, and publishes policy papers to promote a more integrated workplace with respect and dignity for all. WCAPS continues to advance DEI and transform the wider peacebuilding field through its programming and leadership. AfP is proud to have WCAPS as a member and feature the organization as our first ever Champion of Change!
