AfP's Digital Peacebuilding Community of Practice: How to Expand Local Expertise in the Use of Emerging Technologies to Shift the Power

  • 1800 Massachusetts Ave NW Suite 401 Washington, DC United States (map)

On Tuesday, October 18th at 11am ET, join AfP’s Digital Peacebuilding Community of Practice for a discussion with Patrick Meier from WeRobotics on how to enable local experts to build their capacity and expertise in the use of emerging technologies. Over the past 6+ years, WeRobotics has worked with hundreds of local experts and dozens of local organizations in 35+ countries to collectively expand the space for locally-led action in the use of emerging technologies for positive social impact. Together, they continue to shift the power in favor of local expertise, leadership, and lived experience.

The conversation will explore:

  • How local experts are using drones, robotics and AI to tackle aid, development, health, and environmental challenges.

  • The in’s and out’s of the demand-driven localization model that WeRobotics continues to co-create with 35+ local organizations in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Central America, and the South Pacific.

  • Why international organizations need to measure their “Power Footprints” to drive systems change.
