Exploring the Intersection Between Peacebuilding and Media in Ukraine

  • 1800 Massachusetts Ave NW Suite 401 Washington, DC United States (map)

On Tuesday, December 13th at 1pm ET, please join AfP and Stranger’s Guide for a unique virtual discussion on the situation in Ukraine, perspectives of Ukranian journalists, and the intersection of the media and peacebuilding sectors. Stranger’s Guide, an award-winning publication, uses place-based storytelling from local writers to combat stereotypes and foster global citizenship. The event will bring together peacebuilders, writers, and members of civil society to mark the December issue launch of the magazine devoted to the conflict in and people of Ukraine. This convening will include short presentations by AfP Emeritus Board Member and Senior Fellow Chip Hauss, the magazine’s co-founders, Abby Rapoport and Kira Brunner Don, and feature Haska Shyyan, a Ukrainian journalist. Follow-on breakout discussions will explore the role of local writers and photographers, as well as how journalists and peacebuilders can amplify local voices, promote inclusive peace processes and decision-making, and advance peace in Ukraine and around the world.
