Our mission at the Alliance for Peacebuilding is Uniting for Peace. We are excited to share that we are hosting a national public announcement next week in which Rotary Zones 33 & 34, which includes nine states in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern US, as well as Washington, DC, will announce a $500,000 commitment to provide peace education, training and project mentoring for high school students, teachers and youth service club members. The initiative, called “Youth & Peace in Action” is the largest local peacebuilding initiative in the history of Rotary International. Given longstanding issues of polarization in the US and the Educating for Democracy initiative to re-emphasize and re-energize civics education, we at the Alliance for Peacebuilding believe this news from Rotary Zones 33 & 34 could not come at a more important time!
