Rondine Cittadella della pace: Peacebuilding is Youth Leadership
For more than 25 years, Rondine Cittadella della Pace has been committed to reducing armed conflicts globally by ensuring that every person has the tools to manage conflicts in a creative and positive way.
At Rondine, nestled in a Tuscan village, students from conflict-affected countries engage in a transformative two-year residential program. By prioritizing youth education and leadership, Rondine promotes understanding and reconciliation among young individuals who live in countries afflicted by armed conflicts and post-conflict circumstances. The program focuses on peacebuilding and conflict resolution and grounds itself in the Rondine Method, which helps people to humanize their enemies. Participants collaborate in pairs representing opposing sides of a conflict. Together, they develop projects aimed at fostering reconciliation. After two years in Italy, students return to their respective home countries to implement their social impact projects, emphasizing reconciliation and dialogue, with the support of Rondine's staff and the alumni community, known as the Rondine International Peace Lab.
Rondine is also widening the scope of its peace message by involving governments and diplomats in its students' advocacy actions, mainly through the "Leaders for Peace" global campaign, officially supported by Italy, Costa Rica, and Monaco and endorsed by Pope Francis.
